100% Grass Fed and Pasture raised lambs for sale

We started raising hair sheep (Dorper and Katahdin) on Highland Farm & Garden in 2010. Since then, sheep have always been an essential part of our farm. Our sheep are 100% grass fed and finished. During spring, summer, and fall, we rotationally graze them in pastures, and in wintertime they feed on lots of hay made by our neighbor. By moving the sheep from paddock to paddock frequently, the grass and soil can rest and regenerate. Meanwhile, it breaks the parasite cycles and keeps our sheep healthy and happy. The sheep manure is composted and utilized in our pawpaw orchard and food forest garden. Our sheep are supplemented with minerals to balance out their nutritional needs. The sheep have adapted to their environment, and we do not use any antibiotics or growth hormones at all. Our lamb has a subtle, delicate flavor, with less “gamey” tasting compared to wool sheep, making it an excellent option for many family-friendly dishes. Lamb is a common alternative to beef and typically has less marbling, which means less fat and more nutrients, such as zinc, iron, and vitamin B12. Lamb is a nutrient-dense food, and it is rich in protein, vitamins, and essential minerals.

You can find our USDA inspected and individually packaged lamb cuts (ground lamb, lamb chops, and lamb roast) at Edinboro Market, or buy directly off the farm. You can also purchase whole lambs off the farm and have them custom processed. You would be buying the whole lamb for $250, plus paying the processing fee directly to the butcher. We deliver the lambs to Field’s Custom Slaughtering on Rt. 285 outside Cochranton PA, you let them know what cuts you’d like, and pick up right there once ready.

Highland Farm Raw Honey

Our favorite fall harvest (in addition to pawpaws!) Oh, sweet honey! We now have limited pint jars of raw honey available for sale off the farm. Our honeybees, along with native bees, harvest nectar and pollen from the flowers and trees grown in our meadows and food forest garden and pollinate for our fruits and vegetables. We are so thankful so will always leave plenty of honey for them to get through winter. We never use chemical miticides, nor do we spray chemicals in our garden, orchard, and pastures, thus the bees have plenty of clean pollen and pure nectar nearby to forage for their colony. We simply drain and filter the honey. It’s never heated, diluted or highly processed. You get all the live enzymes, vital nutrients, and immunity-building bits of pollen and propolis as a natural gift from the bees. We sell our raw honey for $10/lb. A pint jar of honey weighs about 1.5 lbs., so our price this year is $15/pint.

2023 Pawpaw Season is Over!

Our pawpaws are sold out for the year of 2023. This year, due to late frost in the spring and early drought in the summer, our yield was limited. We do have pawpaw seedling trees available for sale at $20/each. Pick up on the farm only.

Please note:

  • Pawpaw trees are generally not self-pollinating, so at least two trees are required for fruit production. The trees must be genetically different from each other to cross-pollinate. All seedlings (non-grafted) are genetically different.

  • Our seedlings are not grafted varieties. They are one year old and are approximately 12’’- 20’’, including tap roots.

  • Pawpaws are deciduous trees. The seedlings may have dropped their leaves and gone dormant at this time (fall, winter, early spring).
